BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Orioles return home after a nine-game road trip Monday when they open a four-game series with the Kansas City Royals.
Baltimore went just 4-5 on its trip, which did feature a rare series win at the Chicago Cubs. However, the Orioles dropped two out of three to the Washington Nationals over the weekend.
Brian Burres (6-5, 5.29 ERA) will take the mound for the Orioles, who have won six of their last seven home games.
The lefthander missed his last start because of a stomach illness but Burres has won his last two outings. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings to get the victory against Houston on June 19. Burres last appeared on Thursday, giving up one run in one inning of relief.
Kansas City will counter with Zack Greinke (7-4, 3.40), who hopes to win his third straight start.
The righthander gave up three runs over six innings, striking out a season-high 10 in the Royals' 7-3 victory over Colorado last Tuesday. Greinke is 0-2 with a 10.64 ERA in his career against Baltimore.
Both teams enjoyed success against interleague play, which wrapped up Sunday, as Baltimore went 11-7 and Kansas City went 13-5 against the National League.
