PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Nothing has gone right for the Arizona Diamondbacks recently.
The Diamondbacks try to stay above .500 when they continue a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
Arizona slipped to 42-42 on Tuesday, suffering an 8-6 loss just hours after placing left fielder Eric Byrnes on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Byrnes, who is hitting .209 with six homers and 29 RBI after signing a three-year, $30 million contract extension last August, has experienced the most injury-riddled season of his career. He was placed on the DL in May with injuries to both hamstrings and just returned nine days ago.
In addition to Byrnes, the Diamondbacks also placed catcher Chris Snyder on the DL with a testicular fracture. The 27-year-old, who was batting .246 with seven homers and 33 RBI, was injured by a foul tip to the groin area Monday.
Injury has also put Wednesday's starting pitcher in doubt. Micah Owings (6-7, 5.18 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound but may be scratched after injuring his gluteus muscle against the Florida Marlins on Friday. If Owings can't go, Yusmeiro Petit (0-1) will take his place.
Seth McClung (5-3, 4.25) allowed just one run in six innings in his only career start against the Diamondbacks on June 3 and will try to duplicate that performance when he toes the rubber for the Brewers.
