ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Mike Pelfrey seeks to extend his career-best winning streak to four on Thursday when the New York Mets wrap up a four-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals.
New York dropped Wednesday's contest, 8-7, when Troy Glaus hit a walk-off homer in the ninth - his second home run of the game. The Mets fell to 7-8 under interim manager Jerry Manuel.
Damion Easley drove in three runs, but the Mets' shorthanded bullpen coughed up a 7-5 lead. Duaner Sanchez was unavailable after being hit in the leg by a line drive on Tuesday.
New York will looks to rebound from the tough loss behind the 24-year-old Pelfrey, who is 3-0 with a 3.34 ERA over his last six starts.
Pelfrey (5-6, 4.47 ERA), who has not lost since May 26, allowed four runs and eight hits in five innings of a 15-6 win over the New York Yankees on Friday.
St. Louis will counter with rookie Mitchell Boggs (3-0, 4.37), who is making his sixth career start. The 24-year-old Boggs allowed one run in six innings of a 5-1 victory over Kansas City on Saturday.
Albert Pujols went 0-for-5 on Wednesday and remains one home run shy of 300 for his career.
