MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- A home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates is exactly what the Milwaukee Brewers need to bounce back from their worst loss of the season.
After blowing a five-run lead in the ninth inning, the Brewers return to Miller Park on Friday to open a three-game series against the Pirates.
Milwaukee led 5-0 entering the final frame during Thursday's series finale in Arizona, but failed to shut the door as the NL West-leading Diamondbacks scored six times in the ninth without committing an out to deny the Brewers their third straight win.
The Brewers should have little trouble rebounding against the Pirates, who have lost six straight games on the road in Milwaukee and have to face staff ace Ben Sheets (9-2, 2.83 ERA) in the series opener.
Sheets suffered his first loss since May 15 during his last outing, surrendering five runs and nine hits in seven innings en route to a 5-0 setback against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Tom Gorzelanny (6-6, 6.18) looks to continue his dominance over the Brewers when he counters for the Pirates. Gorzelanny owns 3-0 record with a 3.19 ERA in six career starts against Milwaukee.
