ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Braves try to snap a five-game losing streak on Friday when they open a three-game series against the Houston Astros.
The Braves are coming off a three-game sweep by the Philadelphia Phillies and are currently six games below .500 - their worst record this season. Atlanta was outscored 19-7 by the Phillies and went just 3-for-34 with runners in scoring position during the set.
Tim Hudson (8-6, 3.31 ERA) hopes to get the Braves back on track when he takes the mound.
Hudson has been nearly unbeatable at home this season, posting a 6-1 record and 2.24 ERA in eight starts at Turner Field. In order to keep that trend going, the 32-year-old righthander needs to bounce back from a dismal start after he allowed six runs and seven hits in five innings en route to a 9-5 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.
Brian Moehler (4-3, 3.82) looks to stay red-hot when he counters for the Astros.
Moehler has allowed just one run in each of his previous three starts but did not factor in the decision during his last outing after yielding seven hits in 5 2/3 innings as the Astros rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
