Boston (52-38) at NY Yankees (46-42) 8:05 p.m. EDT
BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Yankees will be looking to end a frustrating weekend in winning fashion when they host the Boston Red Sox in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday.
After suffering a 7-0 setback in the first game of the series as Red Sox lefthander Jon Lester tossed a five-hit shutout, Yankees manager Joe Girardi held a closed-door meeting for over 30 minutes before a combative press conference with the media.
New York fared slightly better on Friday but still fell, 6-4. The Yanks finally broke through on Saturday, however, hanging on for a 2-1 win as closer Mariano Rivera worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning.
The New York offense still has yet to flourish, totaling just 12 runs in its last eight games, aside from an 18-run outburst against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.
The Yankees will take their cuts Sunday against a familiar pitcher, knuckleballer Tim Wakefield (5-6, 4.29 ERA). The veteran righthander has been on fire of late, lasting at least seven innings in each of his last seven starts while posting a 1.98 ERA.
Wakefield is just 9-16 with a 5.03 lifetime ERA against New York in 45 games - 28 starts.
The Yankees will counter with Joba Chamberlain (2-2, 2.22). The 22-year-old righthander has adjusted well to life in the rotation, allowing a total of seven earned runs in 29 combined innings.

I almost never pull for the Yankees but if they win this, the Rays are up 5 games on the Red Sox.
So, for one day ... go Yankees.
