Reds RHP Cueto has elbow strain

Aug 25, 2008 - 6:12 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Reds rookie righthander Johnny Cueto will miss at least one start with a strained elbow, the team announced Monday.

Cueto, who left Sunday's start against the Colorado Rockies after three innings, was examined in Cincinnati by team medical director Dr. Timothy Kremcheck.

Cueto was diagnosed with a posterior strain of the elbow possibly caused by a hyperextension. The team said Cueto will be examined again Friday.

The hard-throwing righthander is 8-12 with a 4.65 ERA in 27 starts. He has struck out 146 batters in 155 innings.
