X-rays negative for Reds OF Bruce
Sep 20, 2008 - 10:43 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Reds rookie right fielder Jay Bruce's playing availability is day-to-day after X-rays came back negative on his injured right hand.Bruce was hit by lefthander CC Sabathia in the fourth inning of Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Bruce was replaced in the sixth by Jerry Hairston Jr., who moved from center to right field. Corey Patterson entered the contest and to center field.
Considered the top prospect in baseball prior to the season, Bruce went 0-for-1 before departing. The 21-year-old is hitting .260 with 21 home runs and 52 RBI in 102 games.
