Reds RHP Cordero, OF Dickerson undergo surgery
Sep 26, 2008 - 8:50 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Reds closer Francisco Cordero and outfielder Chris Dickerson both underwent surgery on Friday.Cordero had a 90-minute procedure to remove a bone spur in his right foot and a minor microfracture procedure, while Dickerson underwent a 60-minute surgery to remove a small piece of bone related to a stress fracture in his left ankle.
Both players are expected to recover in time for spring training.
The 33-year-old Cordero collected 34 saves in 40 opportunities this season. He posted a 5-4 record with a 3.33 ERA.
Dickerson batted .304 with six home runs and 15 RBI over 31 games on the campaign.
Also, Reds rookie starter Edinson Volquez is scheduled to have an MRI on Saturday afternoon. The 25-year-old righthander has been bothered by tendinitis in his left knee.
