Team Report
The ruling by umpires that CF Coco Crisp trapped Derek Jeter's
double in the ninth inning Friday forced the Red Sox to play a
little longer, but manager Terry Francona said after Boston's
6-4 win that he was not going to make a scene. "I thought he
caught it," Francona said. "But I wasn't going to go out there
and scream. It doesn't help (RHP Jonathan) Papelbon if I stand
out there screaming. He still had to pitch." ... C Jason
Varitek continued his tradition of wearing a special
holiday-themed chest protector that will be auctioned off for
charity on the internet. ... LF Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits
for the first time since June 15 at Cincinnati. He came into
Friday's game batting .188 (12-for-64) over his previous 16
contests.
