Mavs edge Knicks

Feb 25, 2014 - 5:10 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Dirk Nowitzki's jumper at the buzzer lifted the Dallas Mavericks to a 110-108 win over the New York Knicks on Monday night.

Dallas blew an eight-point lead in the final 1:37, but Nowitzki bailed the Mavs out when his jumper bounced off the backboard and then the front rim before falling through.

"Once it went up, I figured it had a chance. I wasn't quite sure it was going and then it actually went in. I didn't even feel like celebrating, it was so ugly," Nowitzki said. "But we'll take the win and move on."

Vince Carter had 23 points, Monta Ellis added 22 points and six assists and Jose Calderon tallied 20 points and six assists for the Mavericks, who have won three in a row.

Carmelo Anthony netted 44 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists for New York, which has dropped three straight.

"Dirk hit a hell of a shot, I mean what can you say?" Knicks head coach Mike Woodson said.

Brandan Wright's layup staked Dallas to a 108-100 lead before the Knicks netted eight straight points to tie the game.

Raymond Felton drove in for a layup and Tyson Chandler recorded a three-point play before Anthony nailed a triple the knot the tilt with 50.3 seconds remaining.

Dallas' Vince Carter and New York's J.R. Smith both missed jumpers preceding Nowitzki's game-winner.

Earlier, the Mavericks led 31-21 after a quarter of play, but New York outscored them 38-29 in the second to cut the gap to 60-59 after Ellis hit a 3-pointer at the second quarter buzzer.
