Hawks sweep home-and-home over Knicks

Nov 11, 2014 - 7:13 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Millsap had 19 points and the Atlanta Hawks defeated the New York Knicks 91-85 to sweep a home-and-home series on Monday night.

The Hawks beat New York 103-96 Saturday in Atlanta.

Kyle Korver netted 17 points to go with eight rebounds and Al Horford posted 12 points and six boards for the Hawks, who moved to 3-3 on the young season.

"We feel like our record should be better already. A few games we lost at the end of games because we weren't focused at the end of games," Millsap said.

Carmelo Anthony tallied 25 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Iman Shumpert supplied 18 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 15 for New York, which has dropped five straight.

Anthony was 11-of-25 from the field. He's now taken at least 20 shots in his last six games, but has just shot 50 percent or better just once.

"We've just gotta stay with it, stay focused, stay positive as a team," Anthony said.

After Anthony's jumper pulled the Knicks within 75-74 with 2:52 left, the Hawks netted six straight points to pull away.

Korver hit a jumper and consecutive buckets by Dennis Schroder gave the Hawks an 81-74 advantage with 59.4 seconds to go.

New York never got within less than four the rest of the way.

The Hawks held a 17-16 edge following a quarter of play, but the Knicks tied the game at 38-38 heading into the break.

Shumpert and Hardaway began the second half with consecutive triples and New York built its advantage to 49-42 before Atlanta ripped off a 14-2 surge.

Korver and Millsap each hit a pair of treys during the burst and the Hawks led 56-51 midway through the third.

Atlanta took a 64-59 cushion into the final frame.
