Galloway leads Knicks past Hawks

Apr 14, 2015 - 3:57 AM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Langston Galloway made all six of his 3- point shots and scored a career-high 26 points as the New York Knicks held on for a 112-108 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Tim Hardaway Jr. had 23 points and Jason Smith scored 20 with nine rebounds and five assists for the Knicks, who have won back-to-back games for the first time since late February and now own the second-worst record in the league.

"I'm sure people are upset with us," Knicks head coach Derek Fisher said, referencing his team lessening its odds in the draft lottery. "But I don't think you can ever go out there and try not to play your best."

Jeff Teague finished with 19 points and nine assists for Atlanta, but missed a potential game-tying shot with 9.3 seconds remaining.

Kyle Korver also had 19 points for a Hawks team that will go into the postseason as the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed.

"I think we've put ourselves in a good position throughout the course of the season. A lot of positives, so we're excited (for the playoffs)," said Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer.

Atlanta trailed by 17 in the second quarter, but tied it at 87-87 on Shelvin Mack's 3-pointer early in the fourth. New York, however, responded by draining three straight 3-pointers, two by Galloway.

The Hawks had one more run in them and closed to within 109-108 with 19.5 seconds to play when Korver found Mike Muscala inside for a dunk following a Galloway turnover.

After Hardaway was fouled and made 1-of-2 free throws, Teague couldn't hit a floater in the lane. Smith then sealed the win with two free throws.

Hardaway scored 13 points in the first quarter and the Knicks shot 66.7 percent for the period to take a 32-28 lead.

They opened the second quarter on a 10-4 run and went up 61-44 late in the first half on a Lou Amundson putback.
