Clippers dominate Celtics
Mar 30, 2015 - 3:42 AM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - J.J. Redick scored 27 points and all five Clippers starters had at least 15 in Los Angeles' 119-106 win over the Boston Celtics.Los Angeles' starting unit, one of the highest scoring in the league, dominated on Sunday, combining for 102 of LA's 119 points on 36-of-64 shooting. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin dropped 21 points apiece, Matt Barnes scored 18 and DeAndre Jordan posted 15 with 14 rebounds.
The Clippers, who clinched a playoff spot on Friday, have won seven straight games.
"I think they're going to make the playoffs," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers, who led Boston to the 2008 NBA title. The Celtics are a half-game behind Brooklyn for the eighth seed in the East.
Isaiah Thomas scored 19 points off the bench to lead Boston, while Evan Turner added nine points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.
"Tonight is a combination of, there are some things we didn't do and they were playing at a very high level," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. "We didn't provide any defensive resistance at all."
Los Angeles scored the game's first six points on 3-pointers from Redick and Barnes. Those possessions were a sign of things to come for the Clippers offense.
They shot 60 percent in the first quarter, 50 percent in the second and built a 21-point lead by halftime. Thomas did all he could to keep Boston in the game, netting 15 points in 15 minutes, but Redick had 19 and Jordan had already recorded a double-double at the half.
The Clippers' third quarter start mimicked the first, with Barnes and Redick potting triples on the first two possessions. Paul then got in on the action and hit from deep on back-to-back trips.
LA scored on nine straight possessions to start the second half, putting the game well out of reach with more than 18 minutes remaining.
Boston won the fourth quarter by 13 points and still fell by double digits.
