Suns down Mavericks

Dec 6, 2014 - 7:18 AM Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Goran Dragic had 28 points and 13 assists in the Phoenix Suns' 118-106 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.

Markieff Morris added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Suns, who never looked back after scoring 40 points in the first quarter. Eric Bledsoe tallied 19 points and seven assists.

"It's a really important win for us. Especially after having a good last game at home against Indiana, so we tried to win another one," said Dragic. "We know that Dallas is a great team, one of the best defensively in the NBA. I think our key tonight was that we jumped on them early."

Monta Ellis ended with 33 points for the Mavericks, who had a five-game winning streak snapped. Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons each had 15 points, with Chandler also pulling down 18 boards.

The Suns shot 69.6 percent from the field in the first quarter en route to a 40-27 lead. Dragic and Bledsoe each had 10 points over the first 12 minutes.

"Yeah we can't give up 40 points in the first quarter and expect to win a game," said Ellis.

Dallas got within 53-44 midway through the second, but Phoenix responded with a 9-2 run. Gerald Green capped the spurt with a dunk to make it 62-46 and it was 69-57 game at the half.

The Suns took a 93-86 advantage into the fourth and led by as many as 14 in the final period.
