Griffin, Clippers top Jazz

Dec 30, 2014 - 6:52 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Blake Griffin led five Clippers in double figures with 24 points and the LA Clippers got back on track with a 101-97 win over the Utah Jazz.

Griffin stuffed the stat sheet, adding seven assists, six rebounds and three blocks for the Clippers, who had lost three of four. They fell 110-98 to Toronto on Saturday.

Chris Paul scored 20 points with eight assists, J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford scored 17 apiece and DeAndre Jordan pulled down 19 rebounds. Jordan has recorded at least eight boards in every game this month and has at least 11 in 19 of his last 20 games

Gordon Hayward led Utah with 22 points and seven assists. Rudy Gobert had 11 points and 13 rebounds off the bench.

"I like them," praised Clippers coach Doc Rivers. "They're a good young team, they're going to be a very good team."

The Jazz, who only shot 13-for-22 from the foul line, had won four of five.

"We've been in a lot of games, we fight hard every single game," said Jazz rookie guard Rodney Hood. "To come up short when you're that close, it's tough."

Paul and Crawford hit 3-pointers to bookend an 8-0 run late in the first quarter. Crawford then opened the second with another triple, and the Clippers had their largest lead at 28-18.

Los Angeles held a narrow lead until two Hood free throws tied the score at 50 early in the third. After trading baskets, the Jazz went ahead on Dante Exum's triple with 3:21 remaining in the period, and two Rudy Gobert foul shots two minutes later made it 77-72.

But the Clips scored five in a row to tie it at 77-all heading into the fourth. They didn't trail again after that, though Utah made things interesting.

Derrick Favors' dunk at 3:29 had the Jazz within 95-94. After Griffin's jumper, Favors made two from the line to keep it at one.

Jordan pushed it back to three with his tip-in, and free throw woes plagued the Jazz in the final minute. Favors drew a foul on Griffin with 31.6 left but missed two. Hood later split a pair, and Griffin's 1-for-2 resulted in the final margin.
