Wade, Heat hold on to beat Knicks

Dec 1, 2014 - 6:30 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Dwyane Wade scored 13 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to help the Miami Heat pull out an 86-79 road win over the New York Knicks on Sunday.

Wade also had five assists and five rebounds and Chris Bosh had 20 points and nine boards for Miami, which has won three of its last four games. Luol Deng posted 10 points and 10 boards.

Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 31 points while the other four starters combined for 20 points on 9-for-29 from the field in yet another New York loss. The struggling Knicks have dropped four straight and fell 4-14 on the season.

"I just went out there, I was trying not to think about it," said Anthony, who missed the previous two games with back pain. "We thought we missed some shots that were right there."

Amar'e Stoudemire had 19 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.

New York trailed by four through three quarters and got within two on multiple occasions early in the fourth, but never got over the hump. Wade scored eight of nine Miami points during a 9-4 swing that left the visitors with a 79-69 lead with 3:34 to play.

New York made one final push, as Jose Calderon hit a jumper and Anthony scored twice. Miami then took a timeout but Bosh missed a short jumper and Stoudemire got a tip to go at the other end to get New York back within two.

Bosh then got a friendly roll on the game's biggest shot. His 3-ball from the left wing with 1:07 to play bounced off the front of the rim and backboard before falling through.

"I understand that in the fourth quarter, Chris and myself are going to be the guys that our team is going to be looking at to bring it home," Wade said. "That's the only quarter that I can really be selfish."

Miami shot 4-of-6 from the foul line in the final 20 seconds, and Calderon's uncontested layup was all the Knicks got from there.

The Heat jumped out to a 10-2 lead. Twice in the first quarter the Knicks were back within two following Anthony baskets, but the Heat never trailed.

James Ennis scored seven quick points in the early stages of the second quarter and Josh McRoberts hit a 3 as Miami opened up a 31-19 lead. McRoberts found the range again out of a timeout, hitting a deep triple before both teams went more than two minutes without a point.

When the spell was finally broken, Deng split a pair of free throws and Bosh drove in for a layup to make it 37-21.

The halftime margin was 42-34, and Miami led 63-59 after three.

Calderon had nine points, 10 rebounds and six assists ... New York won the rebounding margin, 50-41 ... The Knicks shot 35.2 percent (31-for-88) from the floor, including 3-for-24 from 3-point range.
