Parker outduels Wiggins, as Bucks top Timberwolves

Nov 27, 2014 - 4:23 AM Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - In a matchup of the top two picks in the 2014 NBA Draft, Jabari Parker's Milwaukee Bucks took care of Andrew Wiggins' Minnesota Timberwolves, 103-86, courtesy of a big fourth-quarter run on Wednesday.

Parker, the No. 2 selection out of Duke, had 11 points with seven rebounds, while the top pick Wiggins went for 14 points and eight boards.

Wiggins was acquired by the Timberwolves from Cleveland in an offseason trade that sent Kevin Love to the Cavs.

Brandon Knight scored 13 of his 15 points during the fourth-quarter run that turned a one-point game into a comfortable win. Larry Sanders also netted 15 with seven rebounds and five blocks for the Bucks, who have won two straight.

Corey Brewer paced the Timberwolves with 19 points in their third straight loss.

It was the first time in NBA history that four teenagers played in the same game, with Minnesota's Wiggins and Zach LaVine both starting against Milwaukee's Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The budding rivalry was showcased late in the third, when Parker drove the lane on Anthony Bennett, another member of the Love blockbuster, and Wiggins came over to help, sending Parker's floater into the seats. Khris Middleton proceeded to hit a 3-pointer to give the Bucks a two-point lead with 2:49 remaining, and Milwaukee brought a 72-70 margin into the fourth.

"Our second group (late in the third) got defensive-minded and rebounded the ball," said Bucks coach Jason Kidd. "In the beginning of the fourth quarter, (the starters) picked it right back up. We found a way to win on the road."

Chase Budinger knocked down a pair of free throws to tie the game early in the fourth, but the Bucks countered with a 10-4 run to make it an 84-78 game after Antetokounmpo's layup.

Brewer's jumper cut the deficit to one moments later, then Milwaukee ended the game on a 19-3 run. Knight scored his 13 points during the surge, including the first nine, and O.J. Mayo closed the scoring in the contest with a 3- pointer with 2:13 remaining.

Gorgui Dieng's layup ended a span of over four minutes without a basket for the Timberwolves after Brewer's make, and the hosts were unable to put anything up on the scoreboard over the final 2:40.

"We got a lot of guys playing roles that they aren't accustomed to playing," Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders said. "They put some pressure on, but as we fell behind, we lost any kind of motion. They locked in defensively."

The Bucks opened the game on an 8-0 run, but Wiggins got Minnesota on the board with a 3-pointer. Brewer later found Wiggins for an alley-oop slam and the hosts closed to within two. Milwaukee built its lead back up to eight, however, the Timberwolves scored the final six points of the frame to make it a 26-24 spread after one.

The Bucks brought a 51-47 lead into the locker room at the half.

Thaddeus Young, who missed the past five games due to the death of his mother, scored three points on 1-of-10 shooting ... Minnesota fell to 0-10 when allowing 100 or more points ...
