Knicks get Camby in sign-and-trade

Jul 11, 2012 - 7:36 PM New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks acquired veteran center Marcus Camby in a sign-and-trade with the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

In return, the Rockets received guard Toney Douglas, centers Josh Harrellson and Jerome Jordan, and two future second-round draft picks.

Camby, 38, played 59 combined games with the Trail Blazers and Rockets last season, averaging 4.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. The 16-year-pro, who was member of the Knicks from 1998-2002, owns career totals of 9.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 949 games.

"It's exciting when you get the chance to bring a former Knick like Marcus Camby back home," said executive vice president Glen Grunwald. "His defensive presence, shot-blocking ability and offensive board work will give us nice depth in our frontcourt."

Douglas appeared in 38 games -- nine starts -- last season, averaging 6.2 points and 2.0 assists while shooting 32.4 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three-point range. He has spent all three years of his NBA career with New York.

Harrellson, a second-round pick in 2011, averaged 4.4 points and 3.9 rebounds with the Knicks during his rookie campaign.

Jordan played in 21 games with New York last season, posting 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in just over five minutes per game. He was selected by Milwaukee in the second round of the 2010 draft.

Also on Wednesday, the Knicks signed swingman James White, who spent the past three seasons playing for St. Petersburg (Russia), Sassari (Italy) and Pesaro (Italy), respectively. He averaged 17.4 points with Pesaro in 2011-12.
