Sixers land Wright, Warriors get Jack in 3-team deal
Jul 12, 2012 - 2:45 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers added another small forward to the mix, trading for Golden State's Dorell Wright in a three-team deal.In exchange for dealing Wright, the Warriors acquired veteran guard Jarrett Jack from the New Orleans Hornets, who received the draft rights to forward Edin Bavcic from Philadelphia. Center Darryl Watkins also went to Philadelphia in the deal.
The 6-foot-7 Wright is in the final year of his contract that will pay him $4.4 million this season, and he is coming off a solid campaign that saw him average 10.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest. He posted 16.4 points per game during the 2010-2011 season.
Jack has bounced around with four teams during his seven-year career and is coming off a career-high season in which he averaged 15.6 points and 6.3 assists in 45 games for the Hornets.
"Jarrett recently completed his most productive season in the NBA and, in addition to providing us with additional veteran leadership, his ability to run an offense, score and a variety of other things will be a tremendous asset," said Warriors general manager Bob Myers.
Bavcic, of Bosnia, is a 2006 second round draft pick of the Raptors and has yet to play in the NBA.
Watkins, a 6-foot-11 center from Syracuse, has played in just 14 games in his NBA career. The 27-year-old averaged 4.6 points and 5.4 rebounds in five games with the Hornets last season.
