Lakers top Spurs
Apr 17, 2014 - 4:02 AM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Hill recorded game highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers downed the resting San Antonio Spurs, 113-100, in the regular season finale for both teams.San Antonio (62-20) had already wrapped up the best record in the NBA and will open up the playoffs against the Mavericks on Sunday, while the Lakers (27-55) ended their forgettable season with the most losses in franchise history and a second-to-last finish in the Western Conference.
Nick Young was one of eight Lakers who scored in double digits, filling it up for 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
Kawhi Leonard paced San Antonio with 14 points.
"We're trying to win a championship. We're the No. 1 seed," Leonard said. "The playoffs are coming up. All that's (the regular season) behind us."
Spurs star Tim Duncan sat out the entire game, and All-Star guard Tony Parker watched from the bench in the second half.
Both teams played carefree with little on the line.
The Spurs trailed by 13 in the first quarter but chipped away at the deficit and went into the break with the score tied 51-51.
"They all buy into their system," Young said of the Spurs. "They all play together, from the last person on the bench to the first."
The Lakers scored 11 of the first 12 points of the third to regain control, and it was a double-digit game for almost the entire fourth quarter.
