Reports: Heat retool with Deng
Jul 13, 2014 - 7:58 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Days after losing LeBron James to free agency, the Miami Heat have apparently began trying to replace him by signing Luol Deng.Deng, a two-time All-Star, reportedly signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Heat, according to the Miami Herald. Deng also has the right to opt out of the contract after next season, per several media outlets.
With James taking his talents back to Cleveland, the four-time reigning Eastern Conference-champion Heat must fill the roster in the hopes of making up for his unprecedented numbers.
Deng has proven to be a stat-filler during his 10-year career, but will turn 30 next year and was not as productive after being traded from Chicago to Cleveland last season.
In 40 games with the Cavaliers, Deng averaged 14.3 points and 5.1 rebounds, about two points and one rebound below his career numbers.
No one has shouted yet.
