Heat bring back Haslem

Jul 18, 2014 - 9:29 PM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Count Udonis Haslem among the players who will be returning to the Miami Heat next season.

Haslem, Miami's all-time leader in rebounds, will be back for a 12th season with the Heat after the team announced it has re-signed the veteran forward on Friday.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, though the South Florida Sun- Sentinel reported the deal to be for $5.6 million over two years.

Haslem, along with Miami's "Big Three" of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, opted out of his previous contract following the Heat's loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2014 NBA Finals. James was the only member of the four not to re-sign with the team, with the four-time league MVP instead bolting for a second tour with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.

The 34-year-old Haslem has spent his entire NBA career with the Heat, originally joining the franchise as an undrafted free agent in 2003. The Miami native has been a part of all three of the Heat's NBA champion teams and ranks second only to Wade in club history in games played (715).

Haslem played in just 46 regular-season games in 2013-14, averaging 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds, but started six of Miami's 16 postseason contests -- all of which the Heat won.

"He's a team player, an encompassing all-purpose player, that would play just about any position or role in order to win," Heat president Pat Riley said of Haslem. "It's been such a privilege and honor to have him with the organization and I'm so happy that he decided to come back."

A team captain in each of the past seven seasons, Haslem has averaged 8.6 points and 7.5 rebounds over 715 career regular-season games.
