Heat bring back Andersen
Jul 20, 2014 - 11:45 AM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat re-signed forward/center Chris Andersen on Saturday.Though terms of the deal were not disclosed per club policy, the Sun Sentinel reported that Andersen agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract.
Andersen opted out of the final year of his previous contract in June.
The 36-year-old appeared in 72 games for the Heat last season, averaging 6.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.35 blocks while shooting a career-high 64.4 percent from the field.
"Chris Andersen has had two great seasons with us and without him, we would not have been able to win the 2013 NBA championship," said Miami president Pat Riley. "I'm happy he decided to come back and we're looking forward to a great season from him in the power rotation."
Andersen, who has appeared in 596 games spanning 12 seasons with Denver, New Orleans and Miami, owns career averages of 5.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
In 69 career playoff games with Denver and Miami, Andersen has recorded 5.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.
