Cavs nab Lucas in four-player swap with Jazz
Jul 23, 2014 - 1:07 AM Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired three players, including guard John Lucas III, from the Utah Jazz in a trade announced between the teams on Tuesday.In addition to Lucas, Cleveland obtained forwards Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy while sending second-year guard Carrick Felix to the Jazz. Utah also received a 2015 second-round pick as well as $1 million, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
All three players shipped to the Cavaliers are on non-guaranteed contracts for the upcoming season.
Lucas is the most experienced of the group, having appeared in 216 games over six seasons with four different teams (Houston, Chicago, Toronto, Utah). The 31-year-old averaged 3.8 points and 1.0 assists in 42 contests for the Jazz in 2013-14.
Thomas has been with four clubs (San Antonio, Golden State, Chicago, Utah) over the last three seasons but has played in only 23 NBA games, accumulating 31 points and 40 rebounds.
Murphy, a second-round pick of Chicago in last year's draft, saw action in 24 games with the Bulls before being waived on April 3 and later claimed by Utah.
Felix was taken by the Cavs in the second round (33rd overall) in the 2013 draft, but played in just seven games as a rookie. The Arizona State product averaged 2.7 points and went 2-of-5 on 3-point attempts.
