Hawks sign Brand, Bazemore

Sep 24, 2014 - 12:45 AM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Hawks re-signed big man Elton Brand on Tuesday and agreed to terms with free-agent guard Kent Bazemore.

Brand, 35, averaged 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 19.4 minutes over 73 games for the Hawks last season, his first with Atlanta and 15th in the NBA.

The two-time All-Star has averaged 16.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 1,005 career games with the Bulls, Clippers, 76ers, Mavericks and Hawks.

Bazemore, 25, has averaged 4.1 points in parts of two NBA seasons with the Warriors and Lakers since breaking into the league with Golden State as an undrafted rookie out of Old Dominion.

He had averages of 13.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 23 games with Los Angeles after getting traded midway through last season.

Bazemore's energy and ability to defend multiple positions has helped solidify him as a solid rotation player in the NBA.

"Kent's competitiveness and versatility make him a great addition to our group," said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. "He can impact the game in a lot of ways."
