Celtics send Bogans to Cavaliers

Sep 26, 2014 - 5:04 AM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Celtics shipped veteran shooting guard Keith Bogans and two future conditional draft picks to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.

In exchange, the Celtics acquired guard John Lucas III, forwards Malcolm Thomas, Erik Murphy and Dwight Powell and 2016 and 2017 second round picks from Cleveland.

Bogans, an 11-year vet out of Kentucky, appeared in just six games for Boston last season, averaging 2.0 points in 9.2 minutes per contest. His career included stops in Orlando, Charlotte, Houston, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Chicago and Brooklyn.

Powell highlights the package Boston received. Cleveland selected the skilled 6-foot-11 power forward with the 45th pick in June's draft. Powell averaged 14.0 points and 6.9 rebounds for Stanford last season, leading them to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Thomas, Murphy and Lucas will all be competing for a roster spot during Boston's crowded training camp.

In corresponding moves, Boston waived guard Chris Babb and wing Chris Johnson.
