Lakers go for first road win in Atlanta

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Lakers will try for their first road win of the season when they open a three-game trek against the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday at Philips Arena.

The Lakers are 0-4 away from home and will also visit Houston and Dallas.

Los Angeles is mired in a four-game losing streak and fell to 1-9 on the season following Sunday's 136-115 loss to the Golden State Warriors. Stephen Curry led seven Golden State players in double digits with 30 points and handed out 15 assists.

Marreese Speights scored 24 points off the bench for the Warriors, who made 53.5 percent of their shots and 14-of-28 3-pointers. Curry had five threes.

Kobe Bryant, the NBA's leading scorer at 27.3 points per game, exploded for a season high 44 points on 15-of-34 shooting and Jordan Hill added 15 points to go with 11 rebounds. Los Angeles shot 39.4 percent and only turned the ball over seven times.

"I tried to keep us in the ballgame, but they have a lot of shooters and they have a lot of weapons," Bryant said.

The Warriors scored 40-plus points in consecutive quarters (40 in the second and 41 in the third) for the first time since Nov. 2, 1991 vs. Sacramento.

LA could get some reinforcements Tuesday with Nick Young listed as questionable against the Hawks. Young hasn't played this season because of a torn ligament in his right thumb and averaged a career-high 17.9 points in 64 games last season, his first with the Lakers.

"Get your popcorn ready," Young told the LA Times.

Young could take some pressure of Bryant, according to coach Byron Scott.

The Lakers are allowing an NBA-high 112.1 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Hawks had a four-game winning streak stopped with Saturday's 127-94 blowout loss to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. James scored a game-best 32 points and Kyrie Irving added 20 for Cleveland, which made 54.4 percent from the floor and sank 19-of-31 3-pointers.

"When you shoot the ball that well any team will have success," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said of the Cavs.

The Hawks only made 3-of-22 3-pointers and were led by Paul Millsap's 16 points. Mike Muscala scored 13 points off the bench and both John Jenkins and Al Horford added 12 points in defeat.

Atlanta is in the midst of playing eight of 10 games at home and has a 4-0 record as the host this season.

The Hawks and Lakers split two meetings last season with each team holding serve as the host. The Lakers have won 10 of the last 15 games in this series, but have lost seven of the previous 10 games in Atlanta.

Los Angeles has not lost a season series to the Hawks since 1978-79 (1-3).

In 27 games (23 starts) against Atlanta, Bryant is averaging 22.4 points.
