Clippers begin long road trip in Orlando

Nov 19, 2014 - 3:14 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Clippers are packed and ready to start a lengthy seven-game road trip Wednesday against the Orlando Magic.

The Clippers will also make stops in Miami, Memphis, Charlotte, Detroit, Houston and Utah, and are playing just their third road game (1-1).

Los Angeles won its season opener versus Oklahoma City and has rotated results over the last eight games. As the current trend has proven, it was the Clippers' turn to lose in Monday's 105-89 decision to the Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls had an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter and LA was able to trim it to four points. However, two 3-pointers by Mike Dunleavy buried the hosts, who were outscored, 31-14, in the third quarter.

Jamal Crawford came off the bench to score a game-high 24 points and Blake Griffin added a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. DeAndre Jordan also double dipped with 10 and 17 boards for the Clippers, who blew a 14-point lead early on and shot 44.4 percent.

"We got them down by 14 in the second quarter and they just kept coming," said Griffin.

Chris Paul ended with 12 points and seven assists. The Clippers were coming off a win over Phoenix.

Jordan is nine rebounds shy of passing Benoit Benjamin for sixth on the team's all-time rebounds list. Crawford leads all bench players with 19.0 ppg.

Los Angeles is allowing 102.7 points per game and shouldn't have any trouble with a Magic squad posting just 97.0 ppg.

Orlando, though, has played much better since its 0-4 start and is 5-3 in the last eight games. The Magic recently handed the Detroit Pistons a 107-93 defeat on Monday and were led by Nikola Vucevic's 25 points and 14 boards.

Tobias Harris scored 14 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter and Evan Fournier had 14 and eight assists for Orlando, which shot 51.9 percent and spread the ball around to the tune of a season high 33 assists.

"That's how we want to play every single game. We trust each other," said Magic coach Jacque Vaughn. "We continue to trust each other throughout the game. That's team basketball. That's how we're built and hopefully guys continue to understand that's how we have to play to win."

The Magic are 2-2 at home and went 19-22 at Amway Center last season. They beat the Clippers, 98-90, at home last Nov. 6, then dropped a 101-81 decision at Staples Center on Jan. 6.

Orlando is surprisingly 11-3 in the last 14 meetings with the Clippers, who are just 5-11 in the last 16 trips to Central Florida.
