Mavs entertain Pacers in Big D

Nov 24, 2014 - 3:02 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Mavericks had a six-game winning streak snapped last time out, but they'll look to rebound Monday night when they host the Indiana Pacers at American Airlines Center.

The Mavs also had a three-game road winning streak halted Saturday night when they fell to the Dwight Howard-less Houston Rockets, 95-92, at the Toyota Center.

Monta Ellis paced the Mavs with 17 points on 7-of-21 shooting and Tyson Chandler netted 13 points with 13 boards. The Mavs, the NBA's top-scoring team, were held about 17 points under their average by the No. 2 defense in opponents' scoring.

Chandler Parsons, who left the Rockets after signing a three-year, $46 million deal with the Mavs in the offseason, returned to Houston for the first time and had eight points.

"Little frustrating because we wanted to come in here and get a win," Parsons said. "We're going to be fighting with them all year long."

Dirk Nowitzki finished with 11 points on 4-of-18 shooting. Brandan Wright chipped in 14 points and 11 boards off the bench, and Jameer Nelson also scored 11 points in defeat.

The Mavs shot a disastrous 17 percent from deep in the loss.

The Pacers had a two-game winning steak stopped Saturday night when the Phoenix Suns came to town. Indiana fell, 106-83, in a game where the Suns won all four quarters.

The Pacers struggled from the field for most of the game and shot just 36.9 percent overall and 7-of-23 from beyond the arc.

Roy Hibbert finished with just two points and two rebounds in less than seven minutes. After spraining his ankle halfway through the first quarter, Hibbert played briefly in the second before injuring the ankle again and not returning to the game.

"When he comes out, we kind of play the pace that (the other team) wants to," said Pacers guard Solomon Hill.

Indiana's banged-up roster got even more bad news in the fourth quarter when Rodney Stuckey left the game with a sprained wrist. Stuckey led the Pacers with 14 points on the night.

"I don't feel bad for us. One guy is out, we go out and try to win with the guys we have in uniform," said Indiana coach Frank Vogel about his depleted roster.

Hibbert, Stuckey and C.J. Miles are all listed as day-to-day. Paul George, George Hill, C.J. Watson and David West are of course out with various injuries.

The Mavericks won both of last season's meetings and are 8-2 in their last 10 home games versus the Pacers.
