Bucks' Parker has torn ACL, likely out for season
Dec 17, 2014 - 8:28 AM Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Milwaukee Bucks announced that rookie Jabari Parker is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.Parker left Monday's 96-94 win over the Phoenix Suns after suffering the injury on a drive to the basket in the third quarter.
Parker returned to Milwaukee on Tuesday afternoon and an MRI revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He will undergo surgery to repair the injury.
Parker was leading a break early in the third when he appeared to collide with P.J. Tucker. His left knee buckled and he went down in immediate pain.
At the time, team officials confirmed a left knee sprain for Parker, who did not return and finished with eight points.
Parker, the No. 2 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Duke, did not disappoint in 25 games as a rookie. The reigning Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in October/November was second among first-year players with an average of 12.3 points and his 5.5 rebounds ranked third.
Parker became just the 14th player in the last 30 seasons to record multiple double-doubles within his first three career games, and the only teenager to accomplish the feat.
