Lakers' Bryant to see another specialist on Monday
Jan 23, 2015 - 9:38 PM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant's season is in jeopardy.Bryant, who suffered a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder during Wednesday night's game in New Orleans, was examined Friday in Los Angeles by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo of the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.
Dr. Lombardo confirmed the diagnosis of a torn rotator cuff and discussed options, including the possibility of surgery, with Bryant. Bryant is scheduled to be examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic on Monday, and a decision is expected to be made at that time.
If Bryant can't play again this season, it would mark the third consecutive time he couldn't finish a season. He was felled by a torn Achilles' tendon in April 2013 and a broken bone in his knee last season.
The 36-year-old Bryant has averaged 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 35 games this season. The future Hall-of-Famer is making just 37.3 percent of his shots.
