Thompson stays hot as Warriors win at home again

Jan 26, 2015 - 5:13 AM Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Klay Thompson continued his recent offensive surge to help the Golden State Warriors to yet another home victory.

Thompson scored 31 points to lead the Warriors in a 114-111 win over the Boston Celtics on Sunday night, extending their franchise-record home winning streak to 19 consecutive games.

In Friday's win over Sacramento, Thompson had one of the best shooting nights in NBA history, converting all 13 of his shots during a 37-point third quarter en route to a career-high 52 points. It was the highest-scoring quarter in league history.

Stephen Curry supplied 22 points and 11 assists for the Warriors, who have won five straight overall.

Jared Sullinger was the leading scorer for Boston, scoring 26 points, while Evan Turner filled the stat sheet with 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the loss.

"They played great overall as a team," said Turner. "We didn't do a good job of matching their runs sometimes."

The Warriors held a 30-23 lead after the first quarter and they led by 10 less than three minutes into the second. Phil Pressey and James Young opened and closed a 10-0 run with respective 3-pointers to tie the game at 37-37.

Curry knocked down five free throws to close the first-half scoring and put Golden State up 56-49 at the break.

Draymond Green netted the final five points of a 9-3 spurt that gave the Warriors a 70-60 lead early in the third. Andre Iguodala hit a 3 in the closing seconds of the quarter to make it an 89-77 lead entering the fourth.

The Celtics could not get within striking distance in the fourth as Golden State maintained a healthy advantage throughout the frame until late. Turner's 3-pointer cut the deficit to seven in the final minute, but Thompson answered at the other end with a wing trey.

Boston followed with seven points over a 33-second span to close the gap to three, 112-109. However, Thompson sealed it at the line on a pair of free throws with 3.3 seconds left.

"They put a lot of pressure on you and they stayed with it," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of the Celtics. "They just kept fighting."

Game Notes

Thompson is averaging 31.8 points over his last six games ... Boston has dropped 15 of its last 19 at Golden State ... Andrew Bogut had 13 points and 13 rebounds in the win ... The Warriors made 22-of-25 free throws.
