Bucks welcome Hawks to Bradley Center

Feb 22, 2015 - 3:38 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Carter-Williams is expected to make his debut with the Milwaukee Bucks Sunday, when they host the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Hawks at the Bradley Center.

Carter-Williams is the reigning Rookie of the Year and was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers prior to Thursday's trade deadline. The Bucks also received guard Tyler Ennis and center Miles Plumlee from Phoenix. Milwaukee shipped Brandon Knight and Kendall Marshall to the Suns.

In a corresponding roster move, the Bucks requested waivers on forward Kenyon Martin.

"We're thrilled to add three talented young players in Michael, Tyler and Miles to our team," said Bucks general manager John Hammond. "Jason (Kidd) and his staff have an excellent track record of developing young talent, and we think this trade will accelerate our team's growth as we continue to build toward the future and our goal to put a championship-caliber team on the floor."

Carter-Williams was averaging 15.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.4 assists in 41 games with Philadelphia this season. The 23-year-old Carter-Williams, the 11th overall pick in the 2013 draft, tweeted shortly after the trade: "I can't lie. I'm shocked," he wrote. "I love this city. Thank you for everything. I can honestly say I gave it my all. I wish Philly nothing but the best."

Carter-Williams is questionable with a lingering toe issue.

The Bucks have been playing well of late with four straight wins and 10 in the last 12 games. They are coming off Friday's 89-81 victory over the Denver Nuggets, as Khris Middleton posted 15 points, John Henson added 14 and O.J. Mayo scored 13 off the bench.

"We found a way defensively to get stops when we had to," said Bucks coach Jason Kidd.

Milwaukee snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Nuggets, beating them for the first time since March 20, 2010.

The Bucks are 4-0 on a five-game homestand, have won seven in a row at the Bradley Center and own a 16-10 record as the host. Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova (illness) and Mayo (hamstring) are questionable Sunday.

After this residency, the Bucks will visit Chicago Monday night.

Atlanta is only 3-4 since a franchise-record 19-game winning streak and sustained an embarrassing 105-80 loss versus the Toronto Raptors Friday.

Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague scored 11 points apiece for the Hawks, whose 23 turnovers led to 30 Toronto points.

The Raptors took a 23-point lead with a 23-4 run in the third quarter that was bookended by two bursts. Kyle Lowry scored five in an 11-0 run that extended a four-point lead to 15 and dunks by Patrick Patterson and DeMar DeRozan highlighted a 9-0 flurry to give Toronto a 77-54 advantage.

"You have to give Toronto a lot of credit," said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. "They gave it to us good tonight."

Atlanta had a 12-game home winning streak come to an end and will put its 18-8 away mark on the line Sunday. The Hawks' road mark is the best in the East.

The Hawks will return home to host Dallas and Orlando after this trip to Milwaukee. The Hawks and Bucks have split two meetings this season and will close the series on March 30.

Atlanta is 11-2 in the last 13 games in this series and unbeaten in the last five trips to Brew City.
