Mavericks welcome Hornets to Big D

Feb 22, 2015 - 3:41 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Mavericks could unveil their latest addition when they resume a three-game homestand Sunday versus the Charlotte Hornets.

Amare Stoudemire was recently added to the Mavericks after the New York Knicks negotiated a buyout with the veteran forward.

"I'm excited to be a part of a first-class organization," Stoudemire said. "To play alongside Dirk Nowitzki, Tyson Chandler and other great players, I think it's a tremendous opportunity for me to compete for a championship."

The 32-year-old veteran signed a five-year contract worth nearly $100 million with the Knicks in the summer of 2010. The six-time All-Star averaged 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in 36 games this season with the Knicks.

Dallas opened the homestand with Friday's 111-100 victory over the rival Houston Rockets, as Devin Harris and Al-Farouq Aminu came off the bench and led eight Mavericks in double figures. Harris went for 17 points, seven assists and six rebounds and Aminu finished with 17 points and 12 boards.

"Bench play was great," said Dallas coach Rick Carlisle. "We had a lot of guys in double figures."

Dallas rebounded from a blowout loss in Oklahoma City to win for the seventh time in the last 10 tries.

The Mavericks will close the homestand Tuesday versus Toronto and are 18-9 in Big D this season.

Mavs forward Chandler Parsons is doubtful Sunday with an ankle sprain.

Charlotte has lost four in a row and came up short on a three-game homestand, which concluded with Saturday's 110-103 loss to the Thunder.

Mo Williams posted 24 points and 10 assists, while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Al Jefferson each scored 20 points for the Hornets.

"You don't see the gray hair on his head?" Jefferson said of Williams on NBA.com. "He's an old guy and has been around a long time. He has pretty much seen every offense or played against every offense. It doesn't take him too long to adjust."

The Hornets will begin a four-game trek Sunday against Dallas, Chicago, Boston and Orlando, and are 9-15 away from home.

Charlotte was trounced, 107-80, at home by Dallas on Nov. 17, as Monta Ellis scored 18 points and Parsons added 17. Gerald Henderson scored 18 points in that one for the Hornets, who are 14-34 overall in this series.
