Lillard, Thomas named NBA Players of the Week
Mar 2, 2015 - 8:59 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Portland guard Damian Lillard and Boston guard Isaiah Thomas were named the NBA Players of the Week on Monday.Lillard led the Blazers to a 3-0 record, averaging 26 points and 5.7 assists per game during that stretch, to earn the Western Conference award. His 29- point effort helped Portland pick up a crucial overtime win over the Thunder on Feb. 27.
Thomas, who was acquired by the Celtics from Phoenix at the trade deadline, has been terrific in five games with his new team. He helped Boston to a 3-1 mark this past week, tallying at least 19 points and five assists in all four games.
Thomas posted 21 points and seven helpers in a win over Phoenix on Feb. 23, then followed that up by shooting 11-for-11 from the foul line in a 19-point, six-rebound, seven assist effort in a win over the Knicks. His season-high 28 points were also crucial in a win over Charlotte on Feb. 27.
