Hornets welcome Lakers to Charlotte

Williams looks to stay on the good side of his new teammates when the Hornets return home to host the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday at Time Warner Cable Arena.
Charlotte acquired Williams in a trade with Minnesota and the veteran guard is averaging 23.4 points in five games. Williams has scored 20 or more points in four of those contests and only recorded 12.2 ppg in 41 contests with the Timberwolves.
Hornets coach Steve Clifford plans on using Williams and Kemba Walker at the same time when Walker returns from a knee procedure. Williams had 23 points and 11 assists in a 98-83 victory at Orlando on Sunday in the finale of a four-game trip (2-2).
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist posted 11 points and 13 rebounds for his third straight double-double, a career-high, while Al Jefferson, Cody Zeller and Gerald Henderson scored 16 apiece for the Hornets, who made 50 percent from the floor and held the Magic to 36.5 percent shooting.
"When you play great defense, sometimes teams do score, but if you play it consistently for 48 minutes, you're going to get stops," Jefferson said.
Jefferson pulled down 10 boards in the win, Charlotte's second in the previous eight tries.
The Hornets have a 13-16 home record and are winless in the last three games as the host. They are also tied with Indiana at a half-game off the eighth playoff spot in the East.
Charlotte is only 6-17 against teams from the West.
Los Angeles will play its next three games on the road against Charlotte, Miami and Memphis, and is just 7-22 away from Hollywood.
The Lakers put forth a valiant effort against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, as they suffered a narrow 108-101 setback at Staples Center. Jeremy Lin led the Lakers with 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
"I thought offensively we did some good things," Lakers coach Byron Scott said. "We had a lot of great shots that we just didn't knock down."
Jordan Hill delivered 14 points and 12 rebounds off the bench and both Wayne Ellington and Jordan Clarkson added 12 points in defeat. LA shot 44.4 percent and only committed nine turnovers, but had its season-high three-game winning streak come to an end.
Los Angeles has dropped eight of the past 11 contests. Lin is averaging 17.0 ppg in five games since the All-Star break.
Lakers guard Nick Young (knee) is questionable Tuesday.
The Lakers defeated the Hornets, 107-92, on Nov. 9 at Staples Center and were led by Lin's 21 points. LA scored 65 points in the second half and held the Hornets to 13 in the third quarter.
LA has won six of its last seven meetings with Charlotte.
