Nuggets plan to stop skid vs. Bucks

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Nuggets will try to put the brakes on a six- game losing streak Tuesday when they host the Milwaukee Bucks at the Pepsi Center.

The Nuggets haven't won since the return from the All-Star break. They dropped four straight as the host and mercifully for them, their homestand ends on Tuesday.

Last time out, the Nuggets fell to the New Orleans Pelicans, 99-92.

Newly acquired guard Will Barton had 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for Denver, while Danilo Gallinari paced the NBA's coldest team with 21 points.

Randy Foye scored 19 points on 5-of-10 from deep in the setback, while Ty Lawson had just five points on 2-of-6 from the floor.

"It starts with him," Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said of Lawson. "I want him to empty his clip. If he takes 30 shots, we'll live with him taking 30 shots."

The Bucks have struggled a bit lately. They've lost two in a row and four of their last five with the only victory during that stretch, a home win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Milwaukee opened its four-game western swing with consecutive losses to the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz. The Bucks conclude the trek Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors.

On Saturday, the Bucks fell to the Jazz, 82-75.

Khris Middleton ended with 18 points and six rebounds for the Bucks. Michael Carter-Williams contributed 16 points and four steals. Ersan Ilyasova added 12 points and was the final double-digit scorer for Milwaukee.

"We're not shooting the ball particularly well right now, but it'll come for us and we'll really get things going," said Carter-Williams.

The Bucks shot 39.2 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from long range. They committed 23 turnovers, which led to 24 Jazz points.

Milwaukee cut its deficit to three points, but Derrick Favors came down with an offensive rebound before making a layup, then blocked Carter-Williams' shot at the other end.

The Bucks got the ball back after Trevor Booker's turnover, but O.J. Mayo missed a 3-pointer. Gordon Hayward made two free throws with nine seconds left to secure the victory.

The Bucks bested the Nuggets by eight in Milwaukee on Feb. 20 to halt an eight-game series losing streak. The Bucks have lost four in a row in the Mile High City.
