Spurs drop Suns for 11th straight victory

Apr 13, 2015 - 3:16 AM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Duncan scored 22 points with 10 rebounds and four assists to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 107-91 win over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night.

"He always seems to get excited this time of year," said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich of Duncan. "He is steady all year long and then raises it to even another level when this time of year comes. It's remarkable on his part."

Kawhi Leonard had 18 points and nine rebounds, and Marco Belinelli and Cory Joseph each had 13 points off the bench in the win.

The Spurs, who have won 11 straight overall and nine in a row at home, now lead Memphis and Houston by a half-game for first place in the Southwest Division as well as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.

Gerald Green led the Suns with 23 points and Eric Bledsoe chipped in with 20 points and 10 assists.

Phoenix has lost four straight and nine of its last 10.

"They [the Spurs] have veteran guys and they make great passes," said Suns coach Jeff Hornacek. "In the game, when you cut, there's only a certain amount of time you're open. They know when to throw it. If you wait until he's totally open, it's too late."

San Antonio jumped out to a 12-4 lead after Duncan's layup just over four minutes into the game. Phoenix used a 10-0 run late in the first to cut its deficit to one, then Manu Ginobili's free throw gave the Spurs a 20-18 lead after heading to the second.

Belinelli and Danny Green each converted a 3-pointer early in the second to extend San Antonio's edge back to double digits. The Spurs led 51-39 at halftime.

San Antonio continued to maintain a comfortable margin and led by as many as 24 in the fourth as it gained sole possession of the division lead.
