Mavericks hold off Lakers

Apr 13, 2015 - 5:35 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyson Chandler had 20 points and nine rebounds in the Dallas Mavericks' 120-106 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.

Richard Jefferson and Dirk Nowitzki tallied 17 and 16 points, respectively, for the Mavericks, who have won seven straight against the Lakers. Rajon Rondo and Al-Farouq Aminu added double-double performances.

"It's just an opportunity for us to get tuned up heading into (the playoffs) next weekend," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. "It's a good win for us. It gives us a chance for 50."

Jordan Clarkson ended with 26 points and six assists for Los Angeles. Jabari Brown and Wesley Johnson recorded 18 and 16 points, respectively, while Tarik Black had 10 points and 19 rebounds.

"I just saw the ball coming off the board and paid attention to all of them," Black said. "I saw that our game was slow rebounding, and I knew we had to step up the effort, so that's what I did."

The Mavericks shot 63.6 percent from the field in the first quarter en route to a 33-27 lead.

Ahead 40-35, Dallas created some distance with a 7-0 spurt. The Lakers fought back and got within three, but the Mavericks led 62-57 at the half.

Dallas scored the first six points of the third quarter to make it a 68-57 game. The Mavs led by as many as 14 in the period before taking an 89-82 lead into the fourth.

The Mavericks outscored the Lakers by a 31-24 margin in the final period.

Dallas forward Chandler Parsons missed his fourth straight game due to a knee injury ... The Mavericks are locked into the No. 7 playoff seed in the Western Conference.
