Love ruled out for Eastern Conference semifinals
Apr 28, 2015 - 12:12 AM Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Cavaliers have ruled Kevin Love out for the Eastern Conference semifinals with a dislocated left shoulder.Love was injured in the first quarter of Sunday's win over Boston, which completed a first-round series sweep. Boston forward Kelly Olynyk clutched Love as the two players went to chase after a loose ball, yanking on his arm and jarring it away from his body.
On Monday, the NBA suspended Olynyk one game without pay.
"I thought it was a bush-league play," Love told reporters after the game. "I was out there and Olynyk was in a compromising position and had no chance to get the ball. It's just too bad that he would go to those lengths to take somebody out of a game and do that to someone. I had no doubt in my mind that he did that on purpose."
The Cavaliers in a statement called the injury "an acute anterior inferior glenohumeral dislocation with the corresponding ligament/labrum tearing and humeral head bone bruising." The team said Love is undergoing training room treatments while additional opinions are being obtained and treatment options are being explored.
More information on his availability for the rest of the playoffs will be available in the coming days, the team said.
Love, playing in his first postseason, averaged 14.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game against Boston.
The Cavaliers will face the winner of the Bulls-Bucks series.
