Bucks' Antetokounmpo suspended 1 game
May 3, 2015 - 12:31 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was suspended one game by the NBA on Saturday for his Flagrant-2 foul and ejection in Thursday's season-ending loss to the Chicago Bulls.Late in the second quarter with Milwaukee losing 58-28, Antetokounmpo charged Chicago's Mike Dunleavy and knocked him into the first row of seats after Dunleavy shot a 3-pointer in transition.
Dunleavy made the shot and the ensuing free throw to complete the four-point play and the Bulls went on to win 120-66 to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Antetokounmpo will serve his suspension during the first game of the 2015-16 season that he is eligible to play.
His actions may have been in retaliation for an incident in the first minute of the game when Dunleavy hit Michael Carter-Williams in the face while he was in the air attempting a layup. No foul was called, but the NBA retroactively assigned a Flagrant 1 foul to Dunleavy.
In his second NBA season, Antetokounmpo was a key part of Milwaukee's turnaround from finishing last in the league to reaching the postseason. He averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 31.4 minutes per game.
