Blazers' Aldridge has surgery on left thumb

May 18, 2015 - 5:52 PM Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge underwent successful surgery Monday to repair the injured radial collateral ligament of his left thumb.

Dr. Thomas J. Graham performed the procedure at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Aldridge is expected to be able to return basketball activity in approximately eight weeks.

The 29-year-old Aldridge was ruled out for 6-to-8 weeks in late January after suffering the injury. However, he missed just two games after deciding against surgery.

Aldridge averaged 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds in 71 games this season. He also averaged 21.8 points and 11.2 rebounds in Portland's first-round playoff loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
