Hawks' Korver out for postseason

May 23, 2015 - 7:29 PM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - If the Atlanta Hawks are going to erase a 2-0 deficit in their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, they will have to do it without one of the NBA's best shooters.

An MRI Saturday morning revealed that Kyle Korver sustained a severe high right ankle sprain in Game 2 and will not be available again this season.

Late in the third quarter of Friday's 94-82 loss to Cleveland, Cavs guard Matthew Dellavedova rolled over on Korver's ankle as they were competing for a loose ball. Korver went to the locker room to have x-rays, which turned up negative for a broken ankle.

Korver reached his first career All-Star Game this season, his second with the Hawks. He averaged 12.1 points per game and led the league in 3-point shooting for the second straight season at 49.2 percent. He was averaging 11.1 points on 35.5 percent 3-point shooting in the playoffs.

Korver is the second Hawks starter to battle an injury during this series. Forward DeMarre Carroll was a game-time decision in Game 2 with a left knee sprain. Carroll would ultimately play, scoring six points in 34 minutes.

The series resumes Sunday in Cleveland.
