Golden State Warriors 2015 Draft Preview

Jun 23, 2015 - 4:06 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The reigning NBA champions might still be hungover by the time the draft takes place.

They completed a stunning 2014-15 season with their first title since 1975. Most of the key components are under contract for a while, but one huge piece is a free agent this summer.

Draymond Green, the heartbeat of the Warriors, is a free agent. He told most people listening after the title-clincher he would be back, but business is business.

Green finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year award and second in Most Improved Player. If he were to somehow move on, it would be a devastating loss.

The plan for Golden State is to try and trade David Lee and his $15 million- plus contract. In addition to signing Green long-term, the Warriors need to extend Harrison Barnes, who is up for an extension this summer.

Leandro Barbosa played a bigger role than expected in the Finals. He's an unrestricted free agent.

The core is intact and most believe Green and Barnes will get multiple-year deals.

The Warriors can take the best player available, although they don't need a rotation guy. They can take a chance on a foreign prospect like Cedi Osman from Turkey, or some kind of collegiate prospect, who will most likely be a D- League fixture.

It's a lovely problem to have, not needing anyone for any kind of immediate impact.
