Celtics' Allen sits vs. Rockets
Mar 19, 2008 - 2:04 AM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Ray Allen sat out his third straight game with an injured left ankle when the Boston Celtics took on the red-hot Houston Rockets on Tuesday.Allen did not join the Celtics when they faced the sizzling Rockets, who have won 22 consecutive games - the second-longest winning streak in NBA history.
Allen, who jammed his ankle in the first quarter of Friday's game against the Utah Jazz, did not return to that contest and missed both Saturday's win over the Milwaukee Bucks and Monday's triumph over the San Antonio Spurs.
The 6-5 Allen is averaging 18.3 points and shooting 40 percent from 3-point range in his first season with Boston (53-13), which owns the NBA's best record.
A 12-year veteran, Allen has career averages of 21.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 850 games with Milwaukee, Seattle and Boston.
