Battle of Bulldogs: No. 10 Gonzaga tops Georgia

Nov 27, 2014 - 5:21 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Wiltjer poured in a career-high 32 points and Kevin Pangos scored 22 as 10th-ranked Gonzaga used strong free- throw shooting to beat Georgia, 88-76, in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Byron Wesley had 12 points for Gonzaga (5-0), which will face St. John's in the championship game Friday night at Madison Square Garden. St. John's beat Minnesota in the other semifinal.

Gonzaga, which made 50 percent from the field, missed only three of its 35 foul shots.

Charles Mann finished with 23 points and seven rebounds for Georgia (3-2), which also received 14 points from J.J. Frazier and 10 from Nemanja Djurisic.

A 3-pointer from Pangos widened Gonzaga's early lead to 12-2, and the margin was in double-digits most of the half. Wiltjer's jumper in the closing seconds of the half provided a 46-33 spread.

Gonzaga opened the second half with an 8-2 spurt, capped by a pair of foul shots from Pangos, who was perfect on his 10 attempts for the night.

Yante Maten's layup had Georgia within 61-53 midway through the second half, but the margin never dipped under eight points the rest of the game.

Game Notes

Wiltjer went 1-of-7 from 3-point range ... Georgia finished 22-of-35 from the foul line ... Gonzaga came into the game limiting opponents to 30.8 percent shooting, but Georgia finished at 43.9 percent.
