No. 7 Gonzaga holds off San Diego

Dec 30, 2014 - 6:34 AM San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Wiltjer had 15 points and six rebounds in the seventh-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs' 60-48 victory over the San Diego Toreros on Monday night.

Byron Wesley added 12 points, five boards and two blocks for the Bulldogs (13-1, 2-0 WCC), who have won six in a row. Kevin Pangos tallied 10 points and six rebounds.

Johnny Dee ended with 20 points and eight boards for the Toreros (7-7, 0-2), who have dropped two straight since a three-game winning streak.

Gonzaga started the game on a 15-5 run and never looked back. The Bulldogs then used a 10-0 spurt late in the first half to grab a 35-17 lead.

Brett Bailey stopped the bleeding with a 3-pointer to make it 35-20 at the break.

The Bulldogs led by 22, 52-30, with 10:01 to play, but San Diego responded with a 15-2 run. Dee tallied 12 points during the surge, including a layup with 1:56 remaining to make it 54-45.

But Wesley scored the next four points to put the game away.

Gonzaga avenged last season's three-point loss at San Diego ... The Toreros shot just 26.8 percent from the field, while the Bulldogs made 42.3 percent of their shots.
