0 shoutsRIVERSIDE, Calif.(AP) -- Kyle Austin scored 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to pace UC Riverside past La Verne 87-71 Thursday night.
Larry Gurganious contributed 21 points, and Konner Veteto and Sean Cunningham had 14 apiece for the Highlanders (1-2).
John Leggett led La Verne (0-2) with 21 points and seven rebounds. Trevor Woodland scored 20, including six 3-pointers.
UC Riverside outshot the Leopards 46.3 percent to 38.3 and outrebounded them 43-30.
The Highlanders ran their winning streak against the Leopards to nine straight and hold a 20-14 series edge.
La Verne was coming off an 82-54 loss at UC Irvine.
