No. 19 Sooners rip through SE Louisiana

Nov 17, 2014 - 1:08 AM Norman, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Buddy Hield led the way with 25 points -- thanks to going 7-of-7 from beyond the arc -- and also totaled seven rebounds, as No. 19 Oklahoma opened up its season with a 78-53 decision against Southeastern Louisiana at Lloyd Noble Center.

Isaiah Cousins contributed 14 points and 10 boards for the Sooners (1-0), while Ryan Spangler added 11 with 11 rebounds.

"It's always good when you start a ballgame like that. I thought on both ends we really opened up sharp," OU coach Lon Kruger said.

Andrew Guillory totaled 16 points and Onochie Ochie picked up 10 for the Lions (0-2), who lost by 28 to Oklahoma State in Friday's season opener.

"Who opens at Oklahoma State and Oklahoma? It is what it is and it's very difficult and we're keeping things in perspective," Lions coach Jay Ladner said.

Oklahoma dominated from the start, reeling off the game's first 16 points and taking a 23-8 lead midway through the first half on a tip-in from D.J. Bennett.

The Sooners took a 42-19 edge to the break on Bret Braclay's easy bucket, and never led by fewer than 21 points for the remainder of the contest.

Game Notes

Oklahoma has won both all-time meetings ... Thanks to DeVonte Upson's 11 rebounds, SELA only lost the battle on the glass by a 49-47 margin ... The Sooners sank 9-of-21 attempts from long distance.
